Help Desk Training Program

THE HELP DESK TRAINING PROGRAM

The Help Desk Support Training Program is an intensive six-week workforce preparation course designed for disadvantaged young adults ages 18–30. The program equips students with the foundational skills necessary to obtain entry-level IT support positions or to pursue industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+. Instruction covers computer hardware and software troubleshooting, operating systems, networking basics, customer service skills, ticketing systems, and introductory cybersecurity practices. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning, professional readiness, and career development. Admission Criteria: Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age. Applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must demonstrate basic computer literacy. No prior technical experience or test scores are required. Program Length: 6 weeks (Mon–Thu, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM) Tuition and Fees: Tuition: $0.00 (Program is fully grant funded). Fees: None. Additional Expenses: None. Exam vouchers for certification may be provided under grant funding when available. Certificate Awarded: Certificate of Completion in Help Desk Support Training.`

 

Objectives

To prepare students for entry-level employment as Help Desk Support Technicians or to pursue CompTIA A+ certification. The course covers computer hardware and software troubleshooting, networking fundamentals, customer service skills, ticketing systems, and basic cybersecurity awareness. Instruction emphasizes hands-on practice and workplace readiness. Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: Identify and resolve common hardware and software issues. Demonstrate foundational knowledge of networking and operating systems. Utilize ticketing systems to document and resolve service requests. Apply effective communication and customer service strategies in IT support. Recognize and apply basic cybersecurity practices to protect systems and data. Prepare for entry-level employment or industry certification exams such as CompTIA A+.

Goals

1: Provide Market-Aligned Technical Training Deliver a comprehensive curriculum in IT support.

2: Increase Employability and Workforce Readiness Ensure that at least 70% of program graduates obtain internships, apprenticeships, or employment in entry-level IT roles within 6 months of completion.

3: Foster Digital Equity and Economic Mobility Prioritize recruitment of participants from low-income, underrepresented, or historically excluded backgrounds

4: Build a Sustainable Career Support Ecosystem Partner with local employers, nonprofit organizations, and mentorship networks to provide job placement pathways and ongoing alumni support
